How to get over a cold or flu FAST
By kiratrever, eHow Member Cold and flu season is coming and if you find yourself under the weather, use these home remedies to give your body a boost and get rid of it faster! Who am I to tell you this? An avid reader and studier of natural remedies who is virtually NEVER sick.
Step1Garlic has amazing healing properties. Use only fresh and uncooked garlic, not the stuff in the jar. Allicin, the anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial component in garlic is only present in the fresh raw form. Mince 1 clove and add it to your food twice a day. Please don’t confuse the clove with the whole head! It won’t harm you to eat all of that but it’s likely to be very gas inducing!
Step2Take a day or two off, your body needs it. And why spread it around if you can help it? Make sure you get extra sleep, 10-12 hours per day is minimum to assist your body in ridding itself of illness. Have your steam vaporizer in the room as during winter the dryness from your heating system will aggravate your throat and sinus issues associated with colds and flu.
Step3Try olive leaf extract, making sure it’s not likely to interfere with any medications you take for any chronic ailments (ask your doctor). I get great results with 1 225 mg. capsule 3 times a day (with meals).
Step4Fluids are urgent here. Make sure your are drinking at least 10 glasses of healthy and hydrating fluids per day. Yes I know, we are told that 8 is optimal but since you are sick, you need more. Make a “flu toddy” with hot water, lemon, and raw honey before bed. Some people swear by adding a shot of brandy to this mixture, that’s great, but keep it moderate or you will just make yourself sicker. http://www.ehow.com/how_4519823_over-cold-flu-fast.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art IHow to get over a cold faster

Fall is coming and the weather is getting starting to get cooler and the days shorter. Here are some tips to help prepare you to get over those colds that seem to come with winter.
nstructionsDifficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1Get rest and relax. Do your best to get over 8 or 9 hours of sleep every day, if not more. I try to get about 10-12 hours of good sleep!
Step2Hydrate. Try to double the amount of water or juices that you take.
Step3Keep Clean. Wash your hands often and try not to rub your eyes if your hands might be dirty or “germy.”
Step4Vitamins. Take your daily vitamin as recommended on the packaging; it will help your body battle the infection
Step5Take the appropriate medicine recommended by your doctor or see your doctor. Taking medicine like ibuprofen seems to be more helpful with cold viruses, but always ask before taking any kind of medicine; the physician should recommend the best one or give you a prescription.
Step6Eat well. Improve your diet, at least while you are not feeling well, be sure to get all of the food groups and if you have phlegm in your throat cut back on dairy foods (including yogurt) and take calcium tablets to help you supplement the nutritional lost.
Step7Use a humidifier. It is tougher to battle a cold if you are all “dried” out or if you are dehydrated.
Step8Stay warm. The extra energy you save from not having to try to stay warm may help you fight your infection.
Step9Relax. Do things to reduce your stress or keep you from thinking about problems or issues at least for a little while. Your brain takes a lot of energy to run! http://www.ehow.com/how_4519823_over-cold-flu-fast.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art -

well try to take vitamin C to help reduce the duration of your colds,, if your nose is drippy try to take antihistamines to reduce stuffiness though it could make you drowsy,,try those brands which are non-drowsy.. plus have plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids and take your chicken soup just like what grandma tells you…
