Virus has hidden all of the contents on my c drive?
My desktop computer running windows xp has got a
virus that has hidden the contents of my c drive including program files. I can therefore not open any programs etc. How can I remove this virus a
s I can’t open Internet explorer or my antivirus software? I have tried to unhide the contents but the hide tab has not been selected. Any help I can get to solve this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Start up your computer in “SAFE” mode. Restart your computer, but as soon as the computer logo appears on your bootup screen, keep hitting the F8 function key about once every second. If you wait too long, your computer will just start as normal. If this happens, power it down again, re-start it, and continue to hit F8 once every second. The boot screen should display on a black background. Choose the option that reads “Safe Mode.” If there’s an option for “Safe Mode with Networking,” you can choose that instead.
Safe Mode boots your computer in a very minimal state and doesn’t load a lot of drivers and other programs. So some things may not work (or work properly in Safe Mode). But try running your ant-virus program after you have booted up to Safe Mode. Once you are done, just restart your computer and it will boot into normal mode with all features enabled. Hopefuly when you do so, you will have recovered your system. Good luck!

In this article…click on Fix Reg.exe….Save it to your desktop….open….then run…..it will bring back all your programs to open with right click…..

PS: Reboot the computer….go into Safe Mode with Networking…..then log on as Administrator…..

All there is left to do is reinstall windows. There isn’t anything else you can do.
