The hood fan in our cooking range doesn’t work, should we replace the hood or just change the motor ?
The exhaust fan in the hood of our cooking range doesn’t work. Would anyone be kind to tell me what I should do ? We called an electrician and he said that it would cost $ 350 to install a new hood on the range. Another appliance mechanic suggested on the phone that he can just change the motor and that would cost $ 100. Any ideas what we should do ? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

where do you live, i want to come there and work.
for $350 just to install a range hood,that’s scary.
the range hood doesn’t cost more than $75 at the most,it has maybe 4 screws that holds it in place,and the wiring is just wire nutted together,
why don’t you replace it your self.you can get the motor at home depot,all it is ,is a bathroom exhaust fan,shoot ,use your imagination ,do it your self,don’t pay someone to do it for you.just as in any type of electrical repair,make sure you turn the power off before working on it. -

get a new fan, do it yourself, only 3 wires and 2 screws, easy job, instructions in box.
