I have windows vista. There is a virus on my system which keeps opening websites and throwing up adverts. I need to know what type of software to use to get rid of it. Can anyone help?

Sounds like a trojan.Go to File Hippo and download Ad-Aware.Also put
Malwarebytes Anti Malware in search and download it.
Correct. This is a trojan virus which is doing this damage. As well as mal and spyware. Bets advice i can give you is use mcaffe, which you can buy for 20-40 pounds, and use that to scan your pc. Or use spybot search and destroy. Type spybot search and destory in google and it should come use that as it is easy and quick. Or if none of that works reboot whole pc by putting in new windows.
Safely remove with the following free tools:
Download, install, update and select Full Scan.
Remove all infections that it finds after scan.
This tool will remove Desktop hijacking malware. Firstly, download the removal tool from here:
How to use:
Download, install, update and Immunize, turn off Tea Timer then click ‘Check for problems’ then when complete select all and then ‘Fix Checked’
Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition – Realtime monitoring:
Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:
Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan
Get Free Malware and AntiVirus software we use Super Antispyware + + Malwarebytes Antimalware + Avira Antivi Personal you can find them by doing a search the basic versions are free but combined they have kept us clean for quite a long time.
You might need to switch off windows restore before you restart as some virus seem to use this get get back on your system, bur always make sure you switch it back on later
Avira also helps clear rootkit virus
After using these we also use Glaysoft which helps clean up the registry and system generally again its free for download. you can use this to reset all Internet Explorere setting as well in case they have been hyjacked
Make sure your windows updates are all up todate as well
Take a while to dowload and run them all but worked for us. You do need to run them all as well as it takes the combined forces of these to solve all problems
Hope this helps
